Self Care and Stress Relief
π Self Care and Stress Relief π
Taking care of your body and taking a break from daily stressors is very important. One of my favorite
ways to relieve stress is to organize my room. Having a clean space can provide comfort and make you feel more at home. I'll admit my room gets a little out of hand at times but cleaning it up really puts my mind at peace. My room decor is something I take a lot of pride in and I love to fill it with positive colors, designs, and aesthetics.
One thing I like to do to relieve stress is listening to music that is vibrant and has a lot of emotion. I find even sad music helps me decompress and process any negative emotions I am dealing with. The music taste is extremely diverse so mixing in different genres really helps my mind expand and learn new things.
Another thing I enjoy doing that relieves stress is cooking. My family background has always been surrounded by cooking. My mom is Italian and my dad is half greek and half Italian so food is a big deal. From a young age, I learned to cook basic and complex meals and cooking provides a sense of home for me. I love trying new recipes, experimenting with flavors, and sticking to the old reliable classics as well. Cooking also provides a sense of accomplishment and purpose when it comes out perfect.
This is one of the many meals I make on a weekly basis. It's a beef taco with tomato cabbage and homemade guacamole. I do not make the tortillas homemade but everything else is made with love. For the tortillas, I just buy the generic version from Shoprite and lightly brown them on a hot pan, fold them, and cool them in an upright position to keep their shape. I love this dish because not only is it delicious but it also has all the food groups and lots of textures. I also like to throw in a homemade corn salsa which brightens it up, but I did not have any corn on hand that day.
One last thing I like to do to destress is to hang out with friends. Building strong friendships and relationships is extremely important to me. I would definitely consider myself an extravert so any social setting or event - I'm in!. I love connecting with new people and creating fun memories with the people I love. Sharing personal thoughts, experiences, and interests with friends is something that really puts my mind at ease. Creating a strong support system for yourself can absolutely be considered self-care.
Make sure you take some time for yourself today to destress. π
